What to expect from the Mook Store
When you book a stay at Mook, you reserve the entire lodge, allowing you to experience rural Kentucky in complete privacy.
The Main Store Room
In the heart of the Mook Store is the main store room/living room. This room is 1250 square feet, and retains the flavor of the original general store, including the shelves, counters, and the original post office.
This multipurpose space is set up with a dinette, living rooms, and library.
You can relax with some of our books, take a seat on the sofa and watch TV, or enjoy a meal with your friends and family. I want you to have a memorable time.
The Kitchen
The fully equipped gourmet kitchen is truly a marvel with its professional range, dishwasher, refrigerator, and laundry.
Whether you want to prepare full meals from scratch or just use the microwave or toaster oven, you’ll find all of the appliances and cookware you need.
The Sleeping Rooms
Each of the three bedrooms has a full bed, dresser, and chairs. The rooms have a view with peafowl and other wild birds foraging through the yards, fields and woods.
Although each bedroom is similar in size, they each have a unique theme:
- The Industrial Revolution Bedroom
- The Teddy Roosevelt Bedroom
- The First Nation (Native American) Bedroom
The Bathroom
The old store has a modern bathroom with everything you would expect: a shower and sink connected to a state of the art on-demand water heater, and a toilet.
Plans are in the works to rebuild the two-seater outhouse, for those who really want to go back to the future…
Porch and Patio
There’s a reason why the Professional Porch Sitters Union was founded in Kentucky.
When you’re not conversing or playing a board game, you can watch the peacocks cavort in the yard, and roost in the trees, watch for other rare birds, or enjoy the expansive views of Dark Hollow from the large front porch of the store. Or you could just sit there, like a professional.
Amenities
Although Mook Farm is an escape to a simpler life, you don’t have to leave modern comforts behind.
- Clean your clothes with the full laundry
- Prepare meals in the full kitchen, complete with oven, stove, refrigerator, blender, coffee maker, and a full range of cookware and utensils
- Stay cool in the summer with air conditioning
- Connect to the outside world with a 52-inch Satellite HDTV
