Although you may want to relax in the Lodge or play softball a yard, we also invite you to explore the farm.
Deep in the Woods
Weather and schedules permitting, Gary may be able to walk with you to some of the best sites hidden the woods:
- Indian Cliffs: The cliffs created a natural shelter for the second-wave of Native Americans who lived on the land. Scores of arrowheads have been found on the land, and here you’ll see a mortar that the inhabitants used to grind grains.
- Schoolhouse: Take the same one-and-a-half mile walk to the one-room schoolhouse that Gary took as a first grader! (Uphill both ways through the snow, right?)
- Waterfall: Walk behind the falling water of this secluded waterfall in the woods.
- Masonic Grotto: Hidden within the woods is a grotto with a Masonic carving on the stone floor.
- Pioneer Graves: Deep in the woods, there are the stone-marked graves of the Buchanan’s pioneers from the early 18oos. Most chilling is the epitaph for Millie, who died in 1823 at age 21:

A Walk Through the Fields
Our fields have been fallow for several years, allowing the natural Kentucky grasses to grow on them. Take a walk and see the natural wildlife and the gorgeous ponds. This is your chance to experience pure, unfiltered nature!
